FAMILY PHYSICIAN
DR. MARY PAPADOPOULOU
Hi! My name is Dr Mary Papadopoulou but my patients call me "Dr Mary". I am a family physician with an established practice in Calgary since 2016. I have a special interest in mental health and use cognitive behaviour therapy tools to alleviate inflexible thinking and self defeating thoughts in patients. I also provide prenatal care until 20 weeks, pediatric care, complex care, preventive medicine, and women's health including fertility, sexual health and contraceptive care.
I believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of care.
I was born and raised in Greece. I studied at Comenius University and I completed my four year residency in Family Medicine in the island of Crete. I worked as a hospitalist in Crete and as an emergency physician in adult and pediatric departments. I am blessed to have significant and inspiring professors and mentors during this journey.
I immigrated to Canada in 2013 with my husband and our dog. In 2017 our daughter was born and we decided to settle our roots in Calgary. When I'm not working, I love spending quality time with my family and travelling around the world. I believe in the power of humor and the sparkle of kindness.
The opportunity to join the Village Medical Clinic is exciting and I'm looking forward to be part of such a wonderful team of physicians.
DR. SHANNON OTSUKA
Hi, my name is Dr. Shannon Otsuka and I am a born and raised Calgarian. I completed my undergraduate degree in Anatomy and Cellular biology at McGill university and then a Masters of Science in Cancer Biology at the University of Calgary. I subsequently stayed in Calgary and completed my medical degree as well as my family medicine residency at the University of Calgary.
I love all aspect of Family Medicine but am particularly interested in women’s health including maternity/post partum care and also practice low risk obstetrics with maternity groups delivering out of the Foothills and Peter Lougheed hospitals.
Outside of work, my little guy Hudson who is almost 3 years old, keeps me on my toes! We love all things outdoors and hope to start traveling again soon once Covid settles down.
I am looking forward to joining The Village Medical and being part of a team so dedicated to the health and wellness of their patients.
DR. MICHAEL BLOMFIELD
Hello! My name is Dr. Michael Blomfield. I was born in Peterborough, England, but consider myself a full Calgarian as I moved here when I was 2 years old. I completed my undergraduate degree in Physiology and Developmental Biology at Brigham Young University. I subsequently completed my medical degree as well as my family medicine residency at the University of Calgary.
In addition to my family medicine practice, I also work part-time at the emergency room in the Oilfields General Hospital in Diamond Valley and love acute care. I am committed to helping my patients in all aspects of their care, and assist them in leading a healthy and meaningful life.
Outside of working, I enjoy all forms of exercise and spending time with my family. My wife and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first child in the next few months, and couldn't be more excited.
I'm excited to joint team at The Village Medical and be a part of a group dedicated to improving the wellbeing of the community.

DR. SHAFEENA PREMJI
MEDICAL DIRECTOR & MENOPAUSE PRACTITIONER
Hi, my name is Dr. Shafeena Premji! I was born in Toronto, Ontario and moved to Calgary when I was 8. I obtained a Masters of Health Administration Degree from the University of British Columbia in 2007. I completed medical school at the University of Calgary and then pursued and completed my residency training and Women's Health fellowship at Queens University.
In 2015, I received my North American Menopause Society (NAMS) menopause certification and currently sit on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Menopause Society.
In 2019, I was honoured with the prestigious award and recipient of Avenue Magazine's Top 40 under 40 for my service to Women's Health. I have a keen passion for all aspects of women's health - pre-conception through child bearing years and into menopause. I thoroughly enjoy following patients through their pregnancy, labour and delivery at South Health Campus, and postpartum.
As the owner of Mahogany Medical Clinic, my aspiration for the clinic is that we will grow with our patients and their families over the years and remain committed to providing excellence in every aspect of patient care.
RAMA SWAMI
PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Hi, my name is Rama Swami! I was born in India and completed my postgraduate studies through the All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. I graduated in 2005 and have worked in a range of healthcare settings, from hospitals, nursing homes to private practice clinics. I engage in continuing education and sharing my knowledge by being a Clinical Instructor to physiotherapy students graduating from the University of Alberta.
Throughout my career, I developed an inclination towards Pelvic Health and have actively sought professional development courses to further enhance my skills. I have Level 3 certification in treating pelvic floor dysfunction. I have undergone special training in treating pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy. I am certified in treating pelvic organ prolapse. After having my daughter through a cesarean section, I realized how important it is to take care of your health and the health of loved ones around you. This fueled my passion for helping women through different stages of their pregnancy - preparing them for labour and delivery, empowering them to manage postpartum stress, incontinence (leaking pee or poop), pelvic pain, trouble with intercourse, endometriosis and any other symptom that holds them back from doing what they want to do
I moved to Calgary in 2012 with my husband and have called it home ever since. We now have a wonderful daughter who keeps us busy. I enjoy painting with my daughter and have discovered a new found love for hiking.
HANNAH BECKER
PRIMARY CARE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH (PCBH) PROVIDER
Hannah obtained her Nursing degree while in a bridging program from University of New Brunswick in 2018 after working as an LPN for four years, and completed a focused practicum in Emergency Medicine. She joined the Primary Care Behavioral Health team in October 2023 with prior experience in Emergency Medicine and Community Outreach Nursing in Calgary.
She has extensive experience in the areas of outpatient mental health and substance use disorders. Hannah is looking forward to contributing to the implementation of the patients' medical home through team-based interactions, primary prevention, and application of population-based health approaches at the clinic level.

Hi, my name is Sydney! I was born and raised here in Calgary. I recently graduated from Bow Valley College and I am now officially a Licensed Practical Nurse!
I am grateful and excited to be apart of this wonderful team here at The Village Medical and I cannot wait to meet all the lovely people that come into our clinic!
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love anything outdoors like snowboarding, biking, hiking and going on walks. I also like to relax by watching reality tv or enjoying a nice movie night in!

LISA PERRAULT
Hi, my name is Lisa, I was born and raised in Calgary. I’ve been in customer service for over 15 years, and I also have years of experience as a medical office assistant. I’ve always had a passion for helping other people. I’m a team player, and I believe in building good work and customer relationships.
Outside from work, I’m spending quality time with family. I’m a mom to 3 amazing boys who keep me on my toes. We love to travel when we can, and enjoy our summers camping.
I’m excited to be part of the The Village Medical team, and look forward to meeting everyone and all the patients.
VISHAL DODIYA
Hello, my name is Vishal Dodiya! I was born and raised in London, UK and moved to Calgary in the summer of July 2015. I come from a creative background and have extensive experience in corporate leadership.
I enjoy building long-lasting client relationships and have done so over many years in both a corporate and retail capacity. I have 18 years of expertise in managing projects, corporate communications, brand management, marketing, and sales.
I am excited to apply my skills and experience as the Clinic Manager at The Village Medical.
